Cumann na mBunscol Áth Cliath are delighted to announce our new initiative, Gradam Tom Fitz. This is a project based competition in which schools get the opportunity to showcase the work that is ongoing in their school in the area of promoting Gaelic Games and Athletics. We are excited to announce a range of top quality prizes for this competition.
As most teachers are aware, Tom Fitzpatrick held the role of secretary of Dublin Cumann na mBunscol for over 28 years. Tom was central to the promotion of Gaelic Games in primary schools during this time, growing the leagues from 100 schools to over 350 schools. As well as this, Toms work as Games Promotion officer in St. Patrick’s College influenced a generation of teachers and pointed them towards the work of Cumann na mBunscol and promoting Gaelic Games in their schools. CnmB feel that there is no better way to remember Tom than to reward schools for showcasing the excellent work they are doing providing opportunities for children to play Gaelic Games and Athletics in his name.
We hope schools engage with the initiative. Entries are accepted electronically and hard copy. Examples of some digital projects can be found on the CnmB naisunta website. https://www.cnmbnaisiunta.com/awards/entries-and-information/ (Bottom of the Page) An example of a hard copy project will be uploaded shortly.
